As a guitar teacher for the past 6 years, I have learned what can help students achieve their goals of becoming an accomplished player. I generally start students off with reading music. Anymore most guitar players do not focus on the music reading portion of playing guitar and therefore put themselves at a disadvantage. Learning how to read music and understand how it relates to guitar can add another dimension to one’s playing. I do teach and write some in tab and recognize that it is widely used in many situations. I have a good understanding what the student is wanting to accomplish and cater some of my lessons to that goal, as well as providing a curriculum with plenty of information to step up the students playing. Half hour lessons are the general, but hour lessons are available. I teach in a relaxed environment, ensuring that there is plenty of understanding that goes into each lesson.
